Sewing Habits
I'm curious about what other seamstresses do to prepare for sewing.
Here are some of my "must haves"
Barefoot (so far I have not stepped on any sharp objects in 18 years)
My long hair tied back off my face
Comfy clothes
Chapstick on hand
Tidy room
NO threads on the floor from previous and current project
Scissors on cutting table, by machines and on ironing board
Only one project out at a time (I had to result to this)
Diet Pepsi
House phone & cell phone handy
Usually absolute quiet or General Hospital is on tv. If my soap is on I use this time to cut patterns out, pinning or Seam Ripping!
By the way, this butterfly was in my flower garden the other day. What is a post without a pic!

Here's my sewing preparation:
I can't sew with others around - I do best when I'm by myself in a room.
I need my phone and a bottle of water while I work.
I like a tidy area - otherwise I spend my sewing time cleaning and not sewing.
I generally like a 'quiet' room, but if I have something on it has to be talking - music throws me off.
I also like the computer to be on in another room 0 that way I can check mail, blogs, or whatever comes to mind when I have a breaking point.
Hi, Amy! Thanks for visiting my blog today. I'm glad you liked the hanger on the back of my door.
Here's what I need (or would like to have) while I'm sewing:
I like to be alone, however, I love to go on sewing retreats with my friends or we go to each others homes once a month and sew all day.
Phone, cell phone, diet coke, and a cup of coffee.
My scizzors, pins, threads, and bobbins close by.
My cutting table cleared.
Clean, like yours.
I like to watch Gilmore Girls while I sew or Martha Stewart. I dance if there's music on.
I usually have more than one project going.
And, of course, I need my seam ripper handy at all times!
My only requirement is necessary supplies for the project. Other than that, noise, dirty dishes, or unread mail won't stop me!
I just found your blog and have enjoyed reading it! I heaved a sigh of relief when I read that you too need chapstick at the ready when sewing! I go hysterical without it and I am just so happy that I am not the only one!
Meghan
yep, my sewing room needs to be neat and definitely only one project at a time.
