On Stage Again

Well Miss Priss was at it again...on stage. This time she played Tuesday in the Missoula Children Theatre's production of Robin Crusoe. This little play was put together in only one week. She had a lot of fun. This weekend she will be filming an advertisement video for Young Voices. I have to make a dress that Little Orphan Annie would wear...I guess I'd better get off the computer and start planning this!

Nervous Nellie

Riding as a front seat passenger in my car monitoring my 15 year old with his driver's permit has made me increasingly more anxious as the days go by. I thought this was going to be a fun experience as I have many fond memories of my older brother Malcolm taking me out in an old Volkswagon Van with curtains...and no first gear. We had many laughs together as I popped the clutch and grinded my start in 2nd gear. I used to wear a brown tweed hat and put my hair back so no one would recognize me in this vehicle. Looking back I laugh! My dad used to let me drive my sister VW Bug down the driveway when I was 12. Wow, it is more difficult to drive now a days! there are so many distractions and big SUV's to avoid and road rage. One evening I had my son drive me to the liquor store because I needed something to numb the anxiety! I found a new "Habit" and that is crocheting in the car. This keeps my mind and hands busy. My sister taught me to crochet a chain and a few stitches when I was 7. I can't follow a pattern because I don't understand the stitch names. I just make things up as I go...here is my first real finished project. I'd better go purchase some more yarn to keep my nerves steady!

Spring Fever

I miss my green trees and flower garden. Spring and fall are my favorite times of the year because both are neither too hot or too cold. So, I made another warm weather top for myself. I also got to thinking...because I work at a snails pace it is probably best to be a season ahead when it comes to sewing. This pattern has been cut out and in a baggie for 3 years. The fabric is new though and from my favorite place to shop...Denver Fabrics. This knit fabric was very delicate and when cut it rolled up and created a nice scalloped edge.
Cost:
Pattern: $1.99
Fabric: $4.00
Notions: $2.00
Total: $7.99

Mimi stole my fabric

I had a dream last night about some sample scraps of fabric that I've had for about 5 years in the closet. It's imitation wolf fur from the Design Center here in Denver. I imagined making a little accent pillow out of it for the theatre room but...I had a dream...well Mimi Goodwin
domestichaven.wordpress.com/ stole my fabric right out from under my nose and made a purse from the fabric! (Like I said in my Bio I dream about sewing projects and ideas) So, I'm going to make a cute little clutch out of this fabric to carry my next "on the town night" thank you for the idea Mimi! LOL XO

Our Lady of Guadalupe is beautiful. I admire Mexican folk art, particularly the bright colors and when I spotted this fabric panel at E-quilter I had to buy some. I gave it to my sister Noel and she literally grabbed it and ran! she fell in love with the fabric too. Noel made this wall hanging for me and she beaded the entire panel. Isn't she lovely? Now, I wish I had a large our Lady of Guadalupe belt buckle!

Snow Bunnies

This is the first time I've taken my children up the hill for any winter sports. It was beautiful and I hung out in the lodge teaching myself how to crochet. (Don't be expecting to see any scarves on the blog yet! Lol!)

Better Late Than Never

Ta Da! I finished Lauren's Christmas jammies tonight! This is the first time I've sewn with long john fabric. It was fun and simple. I used my serger for almost the entire project. I opted for a rolled hem vs. a sewn hem.

Using my Stash

I went shopping for fabric yesterday and came home empty-handed. Since the stores were in between their seasons I decided to use some of my stash. I made a serger cover from psychedelic fabric that was going to be a window covering.

Do you ever tire of your stash?
